Every year Dirt2Table holds a “Foodraiser”. Over the years, this event has always been known as “The Community Celebration of Spring and Community Plant Sale”, where community members have been given the opportunity to acquire vegetable plants for a donation of $1.00 each, with 100% of the proceeds going directly back into the project. However, starting in 2021, this event will now become a “Plant Share”using the “Gift Economy” model.
A gift economy is a type of exchange where valuables are not traded or sold, but rather given without an expectation of anything in return – now or in the future. This event is designed to educate community members about backyard food production. Our volunteers plant every plant from seed. Each year we grow more plants to get out into the community. In the past, our culminating event in early May was held at a local park where we accepted monetary donations for plants and conducted workshops, networking and just plain old community fun. COVID-19 changed all of that in 2020.
2021 UPDATE: The COVID Pandemic impacted our in-person event and therefore 2020 was different due to the public health crisis. We transformed our annual event to an order online event. Since the Pandemic is still ongoing, the 2021 event will also be held in the same format as 2020 – a pre-order event with options for online ordering as well as old fashioned paper form (instructions for submitting paper forms will be on the form). Click the links below for more information on how to order your plants.
